At the beginning of the turn, the player and the opponent put 3 cards on their side. The cards don’t have the usual power levels and HP counts. Instead, stars are displayed — from 1 to 3. Opponents walk at the same time, and then watch their cards fight each other. As a result, both cards disappear, as it is necessary to make room for new cards on the next turn.

Each card cell has its own amount of energy, which the player receives if his card wins.

As a “face” in Portal Monsters, an energy indicator is used, which accumulates as cards win during battles. If the indicator is completely filled, then the player wins.
