Rain World is an indie game, a platformer and survival simulation developed and released in 2017 by Videocult, an independent studio that has been working on the game for more than six years. It was first published by Adult Swim Games (English) for PlayStation 4 and Windows in March 2017, and for the Nintendo Switch handheld console in late 2018. The player controls a cat-and-slug-like creature, he must find his relatives in an abandoned world.

“Slug Cat” uses debris as weapons to avoid enemies, get food, or get to safety to escape a deadly downpour. The player is given a little guidance on how to survive. This was a deliberate design by the developers, who compared the gameplay to that of a rat living in subway tunnels, where the player learns to survive in a hostile environment.
