Processor Architecture. What is armeabi-v7a and arm64-v8a APK

Probably every person who has downloaded applications not from the official store has had errors like: Application is not installed, failed to parse the package, and the like. There can be several reasons for this, but today we will consider one of the most important ones. The technical world is evolving and new technologies from Google and other manufacturers of Android devices are constantly appearing. To get to the point, each processor has its own architecture (Instruction Set) and there are several types of them:

• armeabi-v7a – the most popular instruction set at the moment, works with 32-bit processors;
• arm64-v8a – 64-bit architecture, which is gaining momentum and appearing on new devices more and more often, works with 64-bit processors;
• x86 and x86_64 – for Intel processors, which are installed on laptops and tablets.

1. Download the Droid Hardware Info application from Google Play. Then do the following: go to -> System -> Processor and look at “Processor architecture” and “Instruction set”.
2. If you have Telegram, go into the settings and scroll to the very bottom where your architecture will be written.

What games and apps can you install?

• If you have armeabi-v7a, there is not much choice and you need to look for files that support this instruction set;
• If you have arm64-v8a, you can install armeabi-v7a and arm64-v8a files;
  x86 – x86 only, x86_64 – you can download x86 and x86_64.

if you don’t want to deal with all this, just try to download armeabi-v7a files, they are supported almost everywhere.

But there are exceptions:

• If you have a 32-bit operating system installed on your device with an arm64-v8a processor, you will only be able to install armeabi-v7a files.
• With the release of the new version of Android 14, when installing armeabi-v7a apps, the system warns that Google will soon drop support for 32-bit versions and only arm64-v8a will remain. How quickly the transition will happen is unknown. But it is unlikely to be fast.
